  • 2024 Pantera Yearbook Cover

The cover of the yearbook is arguably the most important design of the whole book. People say to never judge a book by its cover, but in yearbook that’s exactly what happens. The cover of the book is a promise to the readers on what they will see inside. It's the promise of the colors, fonts and graphic style that will be used. So each page must reflect elements from the design. Each symbol on the cover matches the word it is next to. We also promise the readers that they will see a curvy line by the second part of our theme statement being written in a curvy line.

  • Sports Spreads

Being the Design Editor comes with a lot of redesigning other staff members work. Last year, the spreads that staffers reported on they also were responsible to design. So my advisor Makena Busch and I went through and redesigned almost every spread in the whole book to make sure everything was consistent and that each spread matched the theme visual.

  • 2024 Profiles

As Design Editor it was my job to create every student profile in the book. Student profiles are different from other spreads because it is just one story on the spread highlighting one student.

  • Student Life Spreads

Student life is the section that the show piece spreads come from. They are the spreads that don’t necessarily match the rest of the gut spreads (sports and academics) they can go off grid and be more creative. Student life also contains the theme spreads, so it is important that they stand out and are designed well, so it was my job to design the show piece spreads my junior year when I was design editor.

  • Closing and Colophon

The Colophon shows all of the design choices and has the theme explanation. No one other than yearbook people or judges really look at the Colophon. But it still needs to be designed to match the rest of the book and the style guide. The closing is the end of the book, and it shows to our readers that we carried the theme all the way through the whole book.
